A tip for health is to start your morning with a nice glass of purified water. As soon as you wake grab a glass of water. Remember it has probably been several hours since you last drank some water. Maybe have one waiting beside the bed for you. This is a healthy habit to get into.
Did you know that the average human body is 75+% water. Our brain is around 75% water. Our bones are around 22% water. Our muscles are around 75% water. If you are feeling thirsty then you are already dehydrated? And here’s why? The average adult loses about 10 cups of water every day, simply by breathing, sweating, urinating and eliminating waste.
Water is the most vital sources of energy in the body. If you’re always fatigued think about this: Dehydration causes the enzymatic activity in the body to slow down, resulting in an overwhelming sense of tiredness and fatigue. Mental performance and physical coordination start to become impaired even well before thirst kicks in, typically around 1% dehydration.
The skin is the largest organ of our bodies. Dehydration impairs the elimination of toxins through the skin and makes it more vulnerable to all types of skin disorders, including dermatitis and psoriasis, as well as premature wrinkling and discoloration.
Are you or anyone you know having bladder or kidney problems? When your body is dehydrated the accumulation of toxins and acid waste creates an environment where bacteria thrive, resulting in bladder and kidney to be more prone to infection, inflammation and pain. Water also plays a major role in disease prevention.
In a study conducted at the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Sheffield, England, researchers concluded that women who stay adequately hydrated reduce their risk of breast cancer by 79 percent!!
Another study, done at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, found that women who drink more than five glasses of water a day have a 45 percent reduced risk of colon cancer compared with women who drink two or fewer glasses of water a day.
Those tests alone show how vital water and the right water is for our bodies.
A shortage of water and alkaline minerals, such as calcium and magnesium can lead to a number of digestive disorders, including ulcers, gastritis and acid reflux.
Weight loss anyone – Want to burn more calories by simply adding water to your diet? Researchers estimate that over the course of a year, a person who increased his water consumption by 1.5 liters a day would burn an extra 17,400 calories, for a weight loss of approximately 2.25kg.
Research shows that drinking two cups of water before each meal, and also paying attention to your portions will help you lose weight and keep it off longer than a year.
This is a growing craze among celebrities. Simply drink 2 cups of water prior to eating and this is said to aid in weight loss dramatically. Easy!
The body is normally about 92% water when the body is fully hydrated. When our bodies are dehydrated the blood becomes thicker causing resistance to blood flow and resulting in elevated blood pressure. And the body will produce more cholesterol to prevent water loss from cells. The easy solution is to just drink more water.
Remember too that many foods already have a water content, which contributes to your daily quota. However, we recommend focusing on drinking your fluids. This is more reliable, easier, calorie-free and inexpensive.
When you want to eat something that is not so healthy, exercise your will power and try to just drink water instead. You’ll likely realize you were simply thirsty. Keep this as a saying in your head when you get an urge to snack – Most of the time when we think we are hungry we are actually confusing the signal from the body, when it is trying to tell us that we are thirsty.
Or take a totally different approach by infusing your water with flavour – it doesn’t have to be boring. Think lemon, cucumber, fruit, fresh herbs and other flavors to have great tasting water on hand. Adding a sparkling water with zero calories kicks the water experience up a notch and makes it more fun. Keep reusable water bottles in your car, at your desk, in your gym bag and all over your house. Schedule H20 time (or even better H3o2 time) into your daily calendar. With so many great health apps available, you have plenty of choices to track your water intake.
Last but not least, your urine color can tell you a lot about hydration. If it’s colorless or very light, that’s a great indication that you’re hydrated. If it’s dark in color (close to an amber shade), you know you need more water.
Urine colour is probably the best guide you have when it comes to your hydration.
When you’re exercising, make sure you understand the following: Two hours prior to exercise, drink 2-3 glasses. Every 10 to 20 minutes during exercise, drink another cup. Following exercise (whether you’re thirsty or not), drink 2 to 3 cups.
These simple tips will go a long way to helping you with your hydration. Happy Hydration everyone!
